Please include your browser and operating system, extension version, what you expected, and what happened. A website/player name helps with compatibility issues.

Do not send licence keys, passwords, private video links, or recordings. Screenshots are optional; remove personal information first.

Getting started.

  1. Enable the extension in your browser. In Safari for Mac, open Safari Settings → Extensions and enable Subtitle Overlay, then allow access to the website you want to use.
  2. Open a video and start playback. If the extension icon is hidden, look in the browser’s Extensions menu or toolbar settings.
  3. Open Subtitle Overlay. Search for subtitles or load a supported file, then adjust the position and timing to your liking.

Some protected browser pages and video players restrict extensions. Compatibility can depend on the website and browser.

Quick fixes.

The overlay doesn’t appear.

Check website access permissions, start the video, then reopen the extension. Reload the page after changing permissions. If it still fails, send us the browser version and website/player name.

The subtitles are too early or too late.

Adjust the timing offset in the extension. Try a subtitle release matching your video. Optional Smart Sync is available on supported browsers; manual timing remains available when it is not.

Subtitle search returns nothing.

Try a shorter title and check the language filter. Search uses OpenSubtitles and depends on its availability and limits. You can load a local subtitle file instead.

Smart Sync isn’t available.

Availability depends on the browser and its local audio and speech capabilities. On supported Chrome versions, follow the setup instructions and allow only the permissions requested for the feature. Safari may not offer the same Smart Sync paths.

I need help with Pro or a purchase.

Email us with the platform you purchased on and a receipt reference if available. Do not include your licence key or full payment information. Payment and refund handling depends on the store where you purchased.

How do I stop sharing usage information?

Open Settings → General and turn off usage data sharing. In releases with the consent onboarding, analytics starts only after you allow it. See the privacy policy for legacy release behaviour and data deletion requests.
